About

Beale Stainton

Beale Stainton was born in Gisborne, New Zealand, in 1984. His iwi are Te Whānau a Tūwhakairiora of Hicks Bay and Ngāti Pāhauwera of Mohaka. He walked the length of New Zealand, crossed the Tasman, and has called Coogee Beach home ever since.

He has published three novels. From Behind the Machine (2017) and Memoirs for Fishy (2018) were published by MoshPit Publishing. The Magic Café (2026) he published through his own imprint, Ibis Press, which he registered, designed, distributed and marketed himself, largely to find out whether he could.

He is currently building Vaeo, an AI-native startup helping Australian local businesses see how AI assistants recommend them.
